Thomas R. Cunningham, 72, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at St. Catherine’s Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie. Born in Fairfield, IL, on August 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Wayne and Lucille (Ferguson) Cunningham. He was educated in the schools of Fairfield. Thomas served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1963. On July 3, 1965, he married Ruth Villegas in Chicago, IL. Together they moved to Kenosha in 1977. Thomas was employed by Oscar Mayer and retired from IT&T in 1977, due to his health.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4551 in Antioch, IL, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Salem; four children, Allin of Kenosha, Joseph (Andrea) of Glen Ellyn, IL, Mary of Salem, and Caren (Rich) of Union Grove, WI; two brothers, Jim of Olney, IL, and Gary (Rhonda) of Bellevue, IA; a sister, Carolyn (Paul) Bliss of Johnston, IL; six grandchildren, Joey Ann (Manny), Michael (Tiffany), Christina, Benjamin, Stephannie and Michelle; and four great grandchildren, Anthony, Julian, Isabella and Noelle.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank.
