Donald Lee Dastic: 78 years old of Antioch, IL, passed away peacefully Friday July 4, 2025, at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. He was born November 23, 1946, in Evanston, IL, the son of the late Frank and Monica (neé Overton) Dastic, settling in Antioch, IL in 1975. Donald proudly served in the US Army. Before his retirement in 2005, Donald worked for many years as a HVAC mechanic for Great Lakes Naval Base, North Chicago, IL. Donald was a member of the Antioch VFW Post #4551, and enjoyed: fixing everything he could, reading, grilling, gardening, in his younger years riding horses, and especially being with his family. On April 8, 1970, Donald married Jeanne Wright in Evanston, IL, and she preceded him in death on December 21, 2021.
Survivors include: three children: Deann (Micah) Radick of Aubrey, TX, Kevin (Gina) Dastic of Antioch, IL, and Sarah Claes of Moscow Mills, MO; seven grandchildren: Gabrielle Blanco, Savannah (Tyler) Wainright, Jesarah Claes, Avin Dastic, Makiah Radick, Julia Claes, and Ryland Radick; a great-grandson Landon Wainright; a brother William (Julie) Dastic of Danville, CA; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife Jeanne, Donald was preceded in death by a brother Butch Dastic.
Donald will be laid to rest with his wife in Fort Sheridan National Cemetery Vattman.
