Raymond P. Toft, 93 years old, lifelong resident of Antioch, IL. Former Mayor of Antioch for 16 years, prior to that being Village Trustee, Captain of Antioch Fire Department, Antioch Police Department, Sequoit Masonic Lodge #827, Antioch Lions Club, Antioch Rotary Club, Antioch VFW #4551, American Legion, and United States Army Korean War Veteran. Owned and operated Ray Shell service station for many years. He was also racing promoter of Wilmot Speedway and owner of Lake Geneva Raceway. He is a two-time Hall of Fame inductee for his career in racing. The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, TN and the Southeastern Wisconsin Short Track Hall of Fame at the Wisconsin Automotive Museuam in Hartford, WI. Peacefully passed away October 19, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joan; their daughters, Debbie (the late Andy) Calin, Kathy (Wayne) Soder; grandchildren, Heidi (Troy) Mase, Savana (David) Kohler; great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Bennett, Carter, Brady and Reese. Preceded in death by his parents, Peder and Mary (nèe Pedersen) Toft; his sister, Ardis Peterson and his brother, Homer Toft. Services and interment were private at Hickory Union Cemetery, Antioch. Arrangements entrusted to Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St., Antioch, IL 60002.
