Charles H. "Chuck" Miller, 74 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at his home. He was born July 14, 1943 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Walter and Loretta (nèe Kiedrowski) Miller. Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, and was a member of the VFW Post #4551 and the American Legion Post #748. He served on the Antioch Police Department for 30 years. He was hired in 1967 and became Chief of Police in 1977, serving in that capacity for 20 years until he retired in 1997. Chuck was a longtime member of the Antioch Lions Club as well as the Antioch Rotary Club. He was a charter member of S.O.B. Muskies Inc. and was an annual chairman of the youth fishing derby for many years. Chuck was a charter member of the Northeastern Illinois Duck's Unlimited chapter and chairman of the Greenwing youth event for over 40 years. He was also a longtime member and loyal supporter of the Northern Illinois Conservation Club. He also belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #525, Antioch and served as chairman of the Wild Game Dinner. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carole (nèe Pyles); his children, Ronald (Dale) Miller and Kathye (Patrick) O'Brien; four grandchildren, Luke, Nathan, Andrea, and Chad "Little Chuck"; siblings, Charlene (Kenneth) Kania and Kenneth Miller; many nieces and nephews; and his dog and faithful companion, Fred. Chuck wanted to be a soldier, so he volunteered to go to Vietnam. He wanted to be a policeman. He wanted to marry - have two children - a boy and a girl. He wanted to enjoy his grandchildren. He wanted to make a difference in his community. He wanted a hunting camp. He wanted a house on the lake. Thank you, God, for giving him all his dreams. Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the VFW Post #4551, 75 North Avenue, Antioch, IL.
